Soothing, familiar sounds help to relax your baby as well: choose from low-frequency sounds that mimic sounds heard in the womb; natural sounds such as heartbeat, rain and wind; or lullabies played through the high-quality speakers; or provide your own play list with the included MP3 connection and holder.
Baby's eyes are kept from over stimulation with an adjustable canopy, which controls light and limits baby's line of vision--making it easier for a tired baby to feel calm. A close-by mirror gives baby something interesting to focus on quietly.
Versatile and Convenient
The Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center's removable carrier seat can be placed on the floor to double as a stationary rocker. You can also use the Center with any Graco Infant Car Seat--so you can easily transfer your sleeping baby from the car to the Soothing Center in your home without disturbing his nap. The Center requires no assembly; it can be powered by five D-cell batteries (not included) or with the included AC adaptor.

What's in the Box
Graco Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center with carrier, and AC adaptor.
Sight: Because newborns need visual simplicity, the Sweetpeace is made with neutral colors for a calming effect, has an adjustable canopy to control incoming light, and hosts a mirror that helps baby settle by focusing on their reflection.
Sound: Comforting, low-frequency sounds recreate the in utero experience, while high-quality music offers sleepy songs for quiet times or upbeat songs for alert times. There is also a nature sounds (wind, rain, ocean waves) option, or an MP3 plug-in connection and holder allows you to create babys customized playlist.
Scent: A parents scent is most recognizable and soothing to baby. The Sweetpeace includes removable soft components (a swaddling blanket and head support) that can be infused with natures "aromatherapy" and calm baby with the familiar smells.
Touch: A 2-speed vibration calms and relaxes with a subtle "massage" while the 5-point harness offers gentle ventral pressure that simulates "hugging." The Soothing Center also moves like mothers do. It has four unique seating positions that imitate how you hold baby, four cradling motions, three recline positions, and six speeds that can be adjusted to babys mood.

The removable seat doubles as an infant carrier or a floor rocker. On the flip side, the Soothing Centers frame is car seat-compatible and accepts all Graco infant car seats. No tools are required to assemble the Sweetpeace. I have a ten-year-old son. When I entered the market for baby products once again in 2008, I was amazed at how much more complicated things were. When a simple, battery powered open-top swing was the best you could get in 1998, a "Soothing Center" that promised everything next to changing the baby's diaper was on the market now! I was cynical about it all, but must admit that many of the features on this product claimed to make improvements to issues that I remembered learning by trial and error with baby #1 could use improvement. I decided to try it out as the one big nicety of my baby gear shopping. First of all, the pros: ~ To address other reviews, I hear no difference between the motor noise on this and what I remember my battery powered Graco open-top swing sounding like. If it uses electricity, it will...Read more 30 of 30 people found the following review helpful: By Mommy of 2 (Gretna, NE) - See all my reviews This review is from: Graco Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center, 2008 (Baby Product) We went to the store looking for a baby swing and happened upon this instead. My husband didn't want to purchase it because of the price (it is a little expensive). I was able to talk him into it and he later apologized because it is so great! It was very easy to assemble, it has a cord so it doesn't burn through lots of batteries (it will operate on batteries if you are not near an outlet), and the seat is cute, comfy and functional. I think the best feature is that you can remove the seat it comes with and use your Graco SnugRide car seat instead. (it also accepts the Graco Infant SafeSeat) My daughter is actually sleeping in her car seat in the sweetpeace right now! It is a lifesaver when you get home and baby is sleeping in the car and wakes when you stop moving. This keeps her sleeping or lulls her back to sleep without having to take her out of the carrier.
It does make a rhythmic sound as it swings, like a swing would. I think this actually helps keep baby...Read more 25 of 27 people found the following review helpful: By Bill Kearney "wkearney99" (Bethesda, MD USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Graco Sweetpeace Newborn Soothing Center, 2008 (Baby Product) 3 months in now and I have some observations. The reviews here are reasonably accurate. It is a bit overpriced. But it is well made. Yes, the motor makes some noise. But it's a rhythmic noise and doesn't bother us or, more importantly, the baby. It's a 'get used to it' sort of thing. The mechanism seems smartly designed as it allows the seat to get stopped while the motor is still running. That is, you want to move the baby around but forgot to turn it off. It doesn't get bound up or break when you stop it swing. So far I can't imagine using any of the faster speeds. Geez, it's practically be an amusement park ride at anything faster than the 2 speed. Unless you're training a tiny astronaut (or WANT the kid to upchuck) I can't see using the faster settings. The lap bar is boring, there's "not enough" for the kid to do with it to bother with it. The bar does work and contrary to another reviewer, I have found it stays up when only...Read more |
