I purchased this swing (glider) because I wanted something smaller than the one I had taking up a lot of space in our small home. I also wanted something that was portable that I could take with us out of the house. My son is big for his age and I debated on getting another swing because I figured he will grow out of it very soon. When I put the swing together, (which was extremely easy to assemble), I was surprised at how big and comfortable the seat was for my large baby. It has 2 knobs, one for the music and one for the glider speed. I love the fact that it does not swing extremely fast, instead a gentle gliding motion, and the music has several different songs so it's not too annoying. It also has an overhead mobile that rotates which my son LOVES to look at. He usually falls asleep within about 15 minutes of being in it which allows me to get things done for a while. I was looking for a portable swing for my son since he will be coming to work with me until he is 5 months old. He is 6 weeks, and has severe GERD, so I was concerned with the angle and how the rocking motion would affect him. This glider is amazing.. when he has a tough day with his GERD, the only place I can put him down and get him to sleep is in this glider or our fisher price aquarium swing.. which was just too large to have at the office. I would highly recommend this glider.. it is fairly small and compact, cute.. even with the bright colors, and the motorized mobile was a plus since my son loves mobiles. The gliding motion is perfect for him and usually puts him to sleep within 15 minutes. I am sure that the motor and battery use will depend on your childs weight, but my son is 10 lbs and he swings well on the lowest setting. I bought this swing to have at my house when my grand-daughter came to visit. It was a life saver. She suffered with digestive issues the first 3 or 4 months and sometimes the only way she would sleep was when she was in the swing. The gliding motion was great, she seemed to like the side to side motion more than the front to back of other swings. It does not take up a lot of room and stores compactly. The only problem that I had is that the motorized mobile stopped working almost immediately. That was not a concern since my grand-daughter has never seemed to interested in mobiles anyway.
